Bush Policies versus Obama Policies. Which is Better?

June 9, 2010

The question of whose policies are better; Bush’s or Obama’s, is being debated across the country in articles and live news, on TV and Facebook, by political pundits and individuals alike.  But I question whether this is even a valid argument.  Would we argue over whether it was better to drive off a cliff at 50 mph or 100 mph?  The only difference is one driver may have additional time to realize there is a cliff ahead and change directions.

Obama’s policies are Bush’s policies at Nascar racing speeds.  Both policies involve bigger government, greater government spending, more entitlements, higher taxes, larger deficits, and piles of debt. Neither has tried to address the coming explosion of unfunded liabilities built-in to pension entitlements, the Medicare program, and Social Security.  Instead of addressing these critical issues, both have added to the problem with new entitlements.  Bush added the prescription drug entitlement and Obama has added 35 million people and an individual mandate to a government health care scheme.

The bad news is we are headed off a cliff and we are moving at a faster pace under Obama than we were under Bush.  The good news is we still have time to change directions and not bankrupt our great country.  It will be hard and require great sacrifice and time is running out.  Due to the large amount of time it takes government to change direction, the November elections may be one of the last opportunities to put the brakes on runaway spending. As Americans and investors we need to get involved and demand the right kind of change to save our country for future generations.

I hope that more people can realize that what this blog says is true. As a conservative (no longer identified with any party), I find that what disturbed me the most about Bush’s big government policies is that they merely opened the door for further abuse from future administrations.
